Arequipa-Santa Catalina Covent

Posted 1 year ago by avatar iggy in response to punkie's question: Which church should I choose to visit in Arequipa? (give a different answer) .

One of the most interesting sights is Santa Catalina Convent (at Santa Catalina 301), nicely refurbished and opened in 1970. It actually reproduces in miniature a colonial town surrounded by walls where there were more than 400 nuns once living in complete isolation. Nowadays, there are only a few left. It's open from 9 to 6 and it's $4.50 to enter.
