Traditional dishes in Iquitos

Posted 1 year ago by avatar hamo in response to musketeer's question: Are there any local specialities I should not miss trying while in Iquitos? (give a different answer) .

You can try the local dish called 'juanes' which is chicken with rice, olive ad egg, wrapped in bijao leaves (you can find it in restaurants) or 'tacacho' which is mashed balls of fried green banana and pork. As for drinking, try the 'chuchuhuasi' an aphrodisiac drink made of tree bark (they have it for sale at Arica 1046).
